… to Enhance Your Leadership
Brian McDonald is the author of today’s Tuesday Reading. He is the president of MOR Associates an organization he founded in 1983 based on the belief that many organizations do not maximize the contribution most people want to make at work. More recently, he has led the development of the MOR family of leadership programs.
What's the difference?
Someone asked the other day, “What do you think?” and I wondered, is this a time to coach or a time to mentor? In our interactions everyday we may have the choice to adopt one approach over the other. Yet we need to be able to make the distinction between coaching in contrast to mentoring. When is coaching the better path; when would mentoring be a better option?
For the 2015 MOR Leaders Conference held May 27-28 in Indianapolis Brian McDonald and Jim Bruce collaborated on the following top trends impacting our clients:
1. Globalization of Education
Education is global. Increased numbers of international students, US campuses abroad, countries creating new universities some of which are world-class and attract US students. The list of top universities in the world will change dramatically in the next two decades.
2. Teaching and Learning
Getting to the important work is critical for leaders. Developing strategies to manage interruptions then is a must.
Watch, reflect, develop strategies to manage. Enjoy.
